Winter Storm Octavia surprised us with 6 inches of the fluffy white stuff on Sunday night.  I wasn’t able to get in to the clinic to see patients so it was a snow day at the Fritz household!  Sadly, Dad has a man cold.  That didn’t stop the little man and I from having a blast!  We went sledding, drank hot cocoa and made snow ice cream!  Have you ever made snow ice cream?  It’s quick, simple and delicious!  Such a fun treat!

I swear we made this in Girl Scouts once because the taste was familiar.  At any rate, it’s yummy!  I adapted this from a recipe on AllRecipes.com.

Ingredients:

1 cup of milk

1/3 cup sugar

1 tsp vanilla

8-10 cups of snow

Directions:

Mix together your non-snow ingredients and place in the freezer.

Send small child who loves being cold, out into the snow to collect 8-10 cups of the fresh fluffy stuff.

Quickly mix the snow in with the non-snow ingredients.

Add sprinkles and chow down!

I had oodles of Valentine sprinkles left over, so this was a very pink project.

This is a fun and easy recipe to do with kids.  As a matter of fact, they can do the whole thing!

Or you can make these fun DIY Snowflake Marshmallows to dress up your hot chocolate when you get in from sledding!
