Love the specialty cones at Cold Stone? Me too! BUT, I’ve found an even better version: make them at home! Throw together some of your favorite sweet combos and make your own Hand Dipped Ice Cream Cones! I’m excited to show you how!

Hand Dipped Ice Cream Cones
We had so much fun making these! This is such a great recipe for kids to get them in the kitchen. This exercise teaches them to use the microwave, stir the melted candy, and crush up the ingredients with a meat mallet.
Let them experiment and try out different flavors. This would even be a fun party activity, kids could make their own dipped cones, pick their ice cream and choose their own toppings!
We made 5 different types and they were all delicious!

Here are the ingredients for each type!
Circus Animal Cookies and Cream
Waffle cone
White vanilla candy melts
Crushed up circus animal cookies
Chocolate Covered Pretzels
Waffle cone
Milk chocolate candy melts
Crushed up pretzels
Sprinkles and White Chocolate
Waffle cone
White chocolate candy melts
Nonpareil sprinkles
Chocolate Peanut Butter with Crushed Peanuts
Waffle cone
Peanut butter layer on cone
Milk chocolate candy melts
Crushed peanuts
Cookies and Cream
Waffle cone
White vanilla candy melts
Crushed up Oreos

I LOVE the nonpareil sprinkles! The colors are so vibrant and fun! Not to mention, it looks great against my aqua serving tray. (Wink wink)
But the best part (aside from the whole spending time with your kids in the kitchen and making the yummy cones), is picking out which ice cream flavors pair best with each type of specialty cone you create! I’m a plain jane and love vanilla. But rocky road would be amazing with the chocolate peanut butter one!
And of course, cookies and cream ice cream or chocolate ice cream would be awesome with the cookies and cream cone. The possibilities are endless!

What type of cone would you make? And what ice cream would you pair with it?
