This past week I had the honor and privilege to be among 100 bloggers invited to the Cricut Launch party in Salt Lake City! It was a whirlwind adventure filled with inspiration, creativity, and vision. The entire Cricut team has been working tirelessly for the past 18 months on a groundbreaking new cutting machine that brings DIY into the home of even the busiest mom! With their new one touch setting and easy to use software, Cricut Explore is leading the industry in the marriage of DIY and tech. Their entire focus was to create a machine that was versatile, easy to use, and precise and they nailed it! Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Cricut Explore!
18 months in the making. The Cricut Explore has been tested to the max! The actual machine has multiple storage compartments, including a tool cup on the left hand side and a blade and tool storage compartment on the bottom. And no more getting scraps and other materials stuck to the mat as you create. The feet allow you to store the mats under the machine as you work.
The software got a HUGE makeover which in my opinion was long overdue. The new Cricut Design Space is so user friendly and customizable. You can easily set your project background (whether it’s for a smartphone, onesie, etc) and change the colors so you can get a full preview of how the end product will turn out. It has Bluetooth capability and an iPad app! (Bluetooth adapter sold separately.)
The image library contains over 50,000+ images! And because of the enhanced preview mode, you can pick and choose the image and see how it will look BEFORE you make a decision on which image to purchase. It also supports SVG files! HUGE cheers!!
Isn’t she beautiful?! Seriously, folks. I am in love!
These are examples of some of the projects this machine can create!
Cricut Explore: Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost?
MSRP on the new unit is $299. With that $299 comes, the machine with free tote bag for easy portability and storage, access to Cricut Design Space (the new software), 50 FREE projects, and a sketch pen. You get access to their image library of over 50,000+ designs. Each image is $0.99. OR you can purchase a monthly subscription of $9.99 and have unlimited access to 25,000 images and 200 fonts. The $9.99 monthly subscription is DEFINITELY the way to go if you will be downloading more than 10 images per month.
Can it cut SVG files?
The answer is a resounding YES! You can easily upload your own images onto the new software AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE!
What about all of my old cartridges?
No problem! There is an adapter on the machine that will allow you to upload those images into Cricut Design Space and save them. Then you can just toss those cartridges out because let’s be serious, they take up a lot of space!
Can you print and cut?
Coming soon! Should be available by year’s end.
When can I get my hands on it?
Very soon! It will launch on HSN on February 12th and available in stores by the end of March!
And just so you know, the Cricut team is not getting a chance to rest yet! They have so much fun stuff prepared for the year and I CANNOT WAIT to share it with all of YOU! So get excited, this is JUST the beginning!
