The backyard has turned into our own little summer playground.  I hadn’t even heard of Hillbilly Golf or Ladder Golf until a couple of years ago when we went camping.  I figured I could easily whip one up for 1/2 the cost of the ones you can buy online.  Today, I’m going to show YOU how to build your own DIY Hillbilly Golf Set!

Create your own Hillbilly Golf Set with these simple instructions via createcraftlove.com for I Heart Nap Time

You will need:

(9) 24 inch pieces of 3/4 PVC pipe

(6) 12 inch pieces of 3/4 PVC pipe

(6) 90° female elbow pieces

(6) female T pieces

Power drill

Golf balls

Spray paint

Nylon clothesline rope

Lighter

Begin by cutting your PVC pipe to size.  We used a circular saw since the blade is thinner than the miter saw.

Assembling this is so much fun!  It’s like Tinker Toys for adults!

The base is made out of six 24 inch pieces.

Super easy, right?!

I spray painted mine white to cover up the lettering on the PVC pipe.

While that’s drying, you need to make your bolas.  A bola is a piece of rope with a golf ball at each end.  In order to accomplish this you will need to drill through each ball.  Use a 7/32 size drill bit.  My husband used my clamps for leverage and drilled through each ball.  I wanted my bolas to be a different color so I spray painted them.

The length of the bola should be 20 inches measuring from the outer edges of the balls.

Tie a knot in each end.  Burn the ends of the rope so it doesn’t fray.

We love our Hillbilly Golf Set!

The game is easy!  Games are won by the first team/person to score 21 points exactly.  You can find the complete rules HERE!

Have you ever played Hillbilly Golf?  Do you call it something else?
