Hello, Create Craft Love! Surprise, it’s me, Camille from Growing Up Gabel.  I’m usually here sharing a yummy recipe, but this month I jumped in with the crafty gals to make a wreath as part of Jill’s Winter Wreath Workshop.  While I may not be sharing a recipe this month, my Christmas wreath features cookie cutters!

Cookie Cutter Christmas Wreath

I love wreaths! This is my first time working with a Styrofoam wreath form.  I usually use a pool noodle or a wire form to make wreaths so this was a new and fun project for me.  Christmas for me is all about baking and making cookies and I wanted a festive wreath to convey that important part of the holiday.  Aside from the wreath form, which was sent to me by Floracraft, I found all the other supplies at the dollar store!

wired ribbon

I decided to cover the wreath with ribbon.  I ended up using a full 3 spools of 9 feet of ribbon to cover the wreath and then make the bow for the top.

My dollar store had sets of 6 plastic cookie cutters.  I bought 3 packs and had about 4 leftover.  I loved that they were a festive red and green.

glitter gingerbread men

I also spied these fun glittered foam gingerbread men.  I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them, but I loved the bling so I grabbed them.  They ended up being perfect for the center of my bow.

Cookie cutter wreath wrapping

Start by wrapping the ribbon around the wreath form.  I tried not to overlap it too much, but wanted it close enough not to leave any gaps. Because it was wired, I didn’t use any glue on it except at the very end to glue the end down.

It looked pretty just wrapped in ribbon!

Next, I laid out the cookie cutters to make sure everything fit nicely. I set them so they were just touching the cookie cutter next to them.  Once I had them all set, I used Alene’s Tacky Glue to glue them down.  I placed books on top of the cookie cutters as the dried to make sure they stuck to the ribbon.  I did leave space at the top for a bow.

Once the glue was dry, I made the bow and glued it on. I’d love to tell you how I made the bow, but I just winged it and glued the gingerbread man in to the center.  And that’s it! A cute cookie cutter wreath for the cook on your Christmas list.
