Beach Memory Block

Good morning everyone!!
This is the tutorial I shared a couple of weeks ago at Becoming Martha, in case you missed it!

Do you ever come home from a beach trip with a bucket full of sea shells?  I love collecting shells on the beach but what am I going to do with them when we get home?  Most likely, they end up shoved in the back of drawer or closet never to be heard from again.

While browsing Pinterest for ideas (you can follow me here), I came across an idea for make a picture frame using craft blocks.  And since I did not want sand all over my suitcase, I opted to leave it at the beach and buy a jar at Hobby Lobby.  Don’t judge…;)

Simply pour in an inch to an inch and a half of sand.  Add your shells.  I kind of played around with it until I got the look I wanted.  You can shake up the sand and have the shells throughout or simply place them on top of the sand.  Whichever way you want it to look will be fine.

I added my favorite beach photo of my little guy and me.  And I whipped out the Cameo to cut some vinyl to indicate where the picture was taken.  Add a ribbon to cutesy it up and voila – finished!!

I just love how this turned out!  It’s so summery and fun!  Not to mention, quick and easy.  This whole thing took about 10 minutes to create.
Please excuse the pictures!  The natural lighting in our house is HORRIBLE!  Not to mention, it’s kinda hard to take pictures of glass…
What do you do with all of your leftover shells?  I still have plenty…LOL

What an adorable idea! Thank you so much for the instructions. You did a great job on the pictures. We made a little stone foot with toes in a clam shell with rocks and shells we picked up. We also made a little critter sitting on a small piece of drift wood. My daughter is 5 and she just loved the beach and all the shells. So sweet!
