Stenciled Cork Board {and Cutting Edge Stencil Giveaway}

A couple of weeks ago, I was given the opportunity to review a Cutting Edge Stencil of my choice.  Have you used Cutting Edge Stencils?  They have an amazing selection!  It took me two days to pick out which stencil I wanted to work with.  I ended up choosing the Nagoya craft stencil.

Since we rent our home, I was unable to try any of the larger wall stencils.  Someday… But I figured I could use the stencil to make something for the wall!  
 
Introducing my Stenciled Cork Board!

I have NEVER stenciled before so I wanted to make sure I did this correctly.  Cutting Edge has some great video tutorials to help!  This video is the one I watched to figure out the basics.
 

Once I understood the basics, I gathered my supplies and gave it a shot.

I decided to begin by taping off the cork board and painting the frame.

Once the frame was painted, I removed the tape and applied the stencil.  Because I didn’t want to ruin the cork board by painting too far, I applied the painter’s tape around the edges.

I followed the directions from the video for applying the paint.

After two coats, I removed the stencil and worked my way to the edges of the cork board.  Thankfully, it came out perfectly spaced!

I cannot believe how easy it was to use!  The pattern looks excellent on the cork board!  There are a couple of spots where it “bled” but I had to much paint on my roller.
The cleanup was super easy too!  The stencil looks brand new again and the foam brush cleaned up really well too.

I just love how this turned out!  It dresses up this plain cork board and turns it into a functional piece of wall decor!

    This corkboard looks great, Jill! I’d have never thought to paint a bulletin board. I’ve decoupaged one with magazine clippings, but never tried paint. Following you from the hop this week.
