How to use your free Graduation Geo-filter
Geo-filters are basically digital stickers. They can be used for branding or marketing. But they can also be used to commemorate an occasion. Community geo-filters (created by Snapchat) are free to use. Custom filters will cost a small price. This geo-filter image is free to use however, you will be charged by Snapchat to publish it.
My sister created this geo-filter for her son and daughters’ birthday party last year.
It’s a fun way to add a little extra to your special day.
Let’s walk through it a step at a time. First you need to download the filter.
CLICK HERE FOR YOUR FREE GRADUATION GEOFILTER
Login to Snapchat on your computer. Click HERE to go to the geo-filter upload.
Click on the bright yellow button that says UPLOAD and upload the file you just downloaded.
You will need to size it to the phone on the page. Be sure to stay within the dark gray so it will be available on all phone types. If the image spills over into the dark gray areas, the geo-filter will not be visible for certain phones.
Once sized appropriately, click next. Now you can pick when the geo-filter will be live. Obviously, this is where you will set it for your party. Be specific as possible. If your party is from 1-5pm, set it from 1-5pm. It will cut down on the cost Snapchat will charge you. For my niece and nephews’ party, it was $5. Click next.
The next screen allows you to pick the geographic area the filter will be visible. Again, zoom in on the map and make this as specific as possible. Jennifer drew the parameter around her house. Anyone within that parameter, will have the filter available to them. It’s pretty cool how it works.
Finally, you will finish up and pay for it to be live on Snapchat. The kids invited to the party or open house will think it’s pretty awesome. Be sure to post signs around the party that mention the geo-filter!
