Have you ever been driving down the road and something catches your eye?  {It’s ok.  This is a safe place.  We won’t tell.}  You pull an illegal U-turn and head back towards your treasure.  Thus, began this love affair with these Ice Cream Parlor Chairs.  I just couldn’t help myself.  It was like a magnet drew me to them – moth to the flame.  I even managed to talk her down $10 per chair.  The table was not included but I was determined to make these goodies mine and create my own DIY Ice Cream Parlor Set!

Isn’t is gorgeous?!  I love the bright red against my navy and poppy cushions! {Stay tuned for that tutorial tomorrow!}

If you follow me on Instagram, you saw what these babies looked like when I brought them home.  Chipped white paint and some light rust but I can see past outer appearances.  I knew there was beauty there just waiting to get out!

Click here to see what they looked like to begin with!

I began by sanding them down with steel wool.  Just enough to get the paint chips off and smooth it out.

Once I had everything smooth, I took them out back for their first of many coats of spray primer.

Then I applied several coats of Krylon Fusion in Red Pepper.

After everything was covered with the pop of red, I applied a clear polyurethane top coat to make it weather resistant.

I cannot tell you how excited I am about this set!  I am completely, head over heels in love with my DIY Ice Cream Parlor Set!  {Can you sense my excitement with all of the exclamation points?  LOL}

Stay tuned in the next couple of weeks!  I will teach you how to make these simple round table cushions and tell you the story of that little table.  {wink wink}

What do you think?
