Allow me to introduce you to the Essential Tools for Cricut Maker!
Whether you’re new to Cricut or upgrading from a previous machine, you will need some basics to help get you started. Cricut Maker is unique in that it has an adaptable tool system which can be used with the rotary blade, scoring wheel and knife blade. This allows you to add components without purchasing a new machine. The machine is always evolving!

Get Started with these Essential Tools
Basic tool set – This basic set of tools provides your with, well, the basics! It includes tweezers, scraper tool, scissors with protective cover, spatula and a weeder. The tweezers allow you to lift and secure delicate materials. The scraper tool is used to burnish material and clean the mat. The weeder helps remove tiny negative cuts. And the spatula lifts cuts from the mat.
Weeding tool set – This wedding tool set is designed for working vinyl with the intricate cuts. It includes five specialty weeding tools including fine tweezers, hook tweezers, weeder, piercing tool, and hook weeder. These tools allow you to use a variety of tip styles and angles for the most efficiency and comfort with all vinyl types.
Machine mats – There are now four basic mats – the light grip (light blue), standard grip (green), strong grip (lavender) and fabric (pink) mats. The fabric mat is designed to secure and cut fabrics with easy release. (Warning: your skin oils can damage the mat! Be sure to only touch the mats with the tools or materials.)
Pens – This is my favorite pen set! It has 30 different fine point pens in a variety of colors.
Essential Tools for Sewing
Sewing kit – The sewing kit provides the essential tools needed to get started with any of the hundreds of sewing projects now available in Design Space! It includes 8 inch fabric sheers, thread snips, measuring tape, seam ripper, pin cushion with pins, and a leather thimble. (I love how Cricut adds special touches to their products! The scissors are labeled for FABRIC!)
Applicator and remover set – This brayer and remover set helps you take care of your fabric mat. The brayer has a soft rubber roller that adheres the fabric to the mat. The broad tip tweezers are sturdy and help remove fabric easily.
Rotary cutting kit – This kit helps you easily cut down fabric for your Cricut. It includes a 45mm rotary cutter for precise fabric cuts, an extra large acrylic ruler and a self healing mat.
Washable fabric pen – Perfect for patterns! It will draw the pattern instructions in minutes to create fabric crafts, clothing, and much more.
Now you’re ready to get started! Of course, you do not need all of these tools. Start with the basics and expand your collection as your crafting evolves!
