Materials needed for Faux Wood Burnt Coasters

  • Birch wood coasters
  • Cricut Maker or Explore
  • Light grip mat
  • Fine point blade
  • Black iron on vinyl
  • Cricut EasyPress
  • Decoupage
  • Paint brush

Images used for this project:

  • Leaf image #M39987
  • Branch image #M3D4B1

We are going to begin as we do for any Cricut post.  Size the image (according to the size of your birch coasters).  Be sure to mirror the image since we are working with iron on vinyl.  Send to cut screen and proceed with cut.  Once cut, weed away any excess iron on vinyl.

Apply the image to the birch wood coaster.  Follow the directions from this post on how to apply iron on vinyl to wood.

Use your EasyPress to make these Faux Wood Burnt Coasters!

After following the directions on how to apply iron on vinyl to wood, carefully peel away the clear plastic liner.

To make these water resistant, we will decoupage the top of the coaster.  Apply a thin layer of decoupage and allow to dry for one hour.  Once dry, add a second coat of decoupage.  The decoupage will cure on the surface of the coaster.  These will be water resistant after that curing period is complete.  Usually takes about 20 days.

Decoupage top of Faux Wood Burnt Coasters!

I have to tell you.  If given the option, I would vinyl the world.  You can create so many adorable crafts and projects by cutting some vinyl!  It’s amazing.

Easy Faux Wood Burnt Coasters for Fall!

These Faux Wood Burnt Coasters would make GREAT Christmas gifts or hostess gifts this holiday season!  You could use holiday graphics or snowflakes!  The possibilities are endless!
