Kool-Aid Pixie Sticks

As a kid, we would spend our summers outdoors with the rest of the kids in the neighborhood.  I can’t even remember how we started making these Kool-Aid Pixie Sticks, but it was a treat that stuck around for the rest of the summer!  It’s one of my favorite memories.  We would sit around with bags of sugar and Kool-Aid and dip plastic spoons in the sweet mix.  It was delicious!   They are so easy to make and in my opinion better than the original!

Hi, just read your “Kool Aid Pixie Sticks” I was just wondering how many packs of kool aid did you add to the half cup of sugar?

  3. I am planning our week at the lake for the 4th of July. I will definitely make these for the kids – I’ll use red and navy straws! Can’t wait! Thanks for the great tips!

  4. That is such a cute idea, especially for kid’s parties. Thanks for sharing it.

If you have a minute to spare I’d be thrilled if you could share your post at my Say G’day linky party. This would be a fabulous addition.

I’m happy to inform you that your “better than the original,” actually IS the original! My friends and I were mixing Kool-Aid with sugar back in the 50’s and pouring it into our mouths from a corner of the package. One of my peers was smart and decided to package it and call it Pixie Stix! After paying 75 cents for a PIxie Stix at the pool today for my grandson, I decided to make our own but couldn’t recall how much sugar we added. Enjoy your very original Pixie Stix!
