You guys know I am all about easy projects.  I fell in love with these Day of the Dead Dinner Plates from Oriental Trading Company.  The colors and design are fabulous! I couldn’t help myself!

Have you ever used paper plates to make something crafty? It’s such a fun way to personalize your decor for holidays or parties!

Materials needed for Sugar Skull Garland

Day of the Dead dinner plates
Scissors
Hole punch
Ribbon

This Sugar Skull Garland is a quick and easy craft that the kids can manage all on their own.

skull plate

Using your scissor, cut the sugar skull out of the paper plate. Repeat this for as many plates as possible.

Once you have all of the skulls cut out, start punching holes in the sides of the skulls. This is where you will attach the ribbon.

Tie the skulls together with a small piece of ribbon.  Trim any excess ribbon. If you want more space between the skulls, simply use longer pieces of ribbon. Or you can thread the skulls over one long piece of ribbon and arrange the skulls to your desired length. Either way, it will look super cute and festive!

attaching garland

Continue adding skulls until you reach your desired length.  Add a long piece of ribbon at each end of the garland to hang on the wall or mantel.

How easy is that?! Great idea for Halloween parties, scout meetings, etc!

You could even create your own Day of the Dead masks with these! Or you can try our Day of the Dead Mask coloring page and create your own!
