Every morning, my dad texts my sister and I a funny joke or meme. I look forward to it every day. I mean, who doesn’t love a good dad joke? Some are funny. Some are groan worthy. But I love that Dad thinks of us and wants to make us laugh. My sister and I have jumped on board and usually try to send something silly back. It’s a fun way we all keep in touch. In my husband’s old age (ha!), he has started coming up with these punny quips as well. I think it’s just in the male genetic code.

I whipped up these printables for you to share with the funny guy in your life. You can use them as decorations for Father’s Day or make cards out of them! Either way, I’m sure Dad will enjoy the humor. (wink, wink)

Around our house, my husband is the cook and grill master.  I thought it might be fun to whip this up as a Father’s Day present this year.  Sadly he saw me creating the image so it’s no longer a surprise…LOL.

Materials needed for DIY Grill Apron

Cricut Explore or Maker
Black, red, green, orange and tan iron on vinyl
Light grip mat
Basic tool set
Fine point blade
Apron
EasyPress 
EasyPress Mat

1. Begin by downloading the free file below and upload it into Cricut Design Space.
2. Measure your apron and size the image appropriately in the software.
3. Once finalized, send the image to cut and follow directions for cutting.  
4. Don’t forget to mirror your image as you are working with iron on vinyl.  Otherwise your design will be backwards.
5. Repeat above process for each color layer.
6. Weed excess vinyl away from image using the basic tool set.
7. Set EasyPress to 315 degrees.  Pre-heat tshirt for 5 seconds.  Arrange grill image on apron.  Apply heat and pressure for 30 seconds.  Flip material over and apply heat for an additional 15 seconds.
8. Peel away clear liner while warm.

How much fun is that?!  Kyle loved it!  Even though he saw it already…

Sometimes Dad gets home from a hard day and wants to kick back with his favorite whiskey and relax.  Or maybe he just likes to sit around with his buddies and play poker.  (Do people still do that?)  If your Dad is a fan of the finer things in life, surprise him with his own personal bottle of his favorite spirit.  This fun printable project also includes a print and cut file for the custom cigar band.  Either way, he’s sure to love the thought put into his unique Fathers Day gift.

We used waterproof label paper so the ink will not run.  This is also a great tip for party printables.  If you have water bottles or juice bottles that you are labeling, we recommend using the waterproof label paper.  For this project we used Milcoast Matte Full Sheet Adhesive Tear Resistant Waterproof Photo Craft Paper.  (Man – that’s a mouthful!)  Just copy and paste that into Amazon and you can prime it. 

The bottle label reads: “Single Malt Father’s Day Whiskey – distilled and matured like you! Established a long ass time ago!”

For the cigar band, this is available as a print and cut file for use with Cricut or Silhouette.  

This cigar band reads “Thanks for being a smoking awesome Dad!”

Little kids love superheroes.  But did you know that YOU are their favorite superhero?  Of course you are!  You are their first friend, teacher, and confidante.  Words you say, memories you make, actions you take all play into their view of you and their world.  These gift ideas and printable are perfect for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day!

Instead of sharing these in multiple posts, I decided to make it one huge mega post!

I created these Supermom and Superdad vector images that can be used to create anything you want!  These are just a few of the ideas I came up with to share with you.

Idea #1: Supermom and Superdad Personalized Cups

To create these Supermom and Superdad personalized cups, you will need adhesive vinyl and a cutting machine.  Of course, I used my favorite DIY tool – my Cricut Explore.  If you are looking for tutorials on how to use adhesive vinyl, check out these DIY Wine Glasses!  Click HERE to learn how to cut and apply adhesive vinyl!

Fun idea for mom or dad to take to work or use around the house!

Idea #2: Supermom and Superdad T-shirts

Ever since Reed was a baby, Kyle has played a game with him called “Reed Pillow”.  It’s a simple game.  Basically, it consists of Kyle laying his head on Reed’s tummy, wiggling it and yelling, “Reed Pillow”!  At this point, Reed dissolves into a fit of uncontrolled giggles.  Reed is growing so big and it’s more and more difficult to pin him down for this silly, reminiscent game.  When I came across these photo pillows on Snapfish, I knew it would make a great Father’s Day gift.

 The new Snapfish website is super easy to navigate and I created this in less than 10 minutes!

If you aren’t already a member, create an account.  If you are, just sign in.

Click on the decorative pillows.

Click “Make this Project”.

This will bring up the download page.  They even quickly point out the features for ease of use.

Just click anywhere on the page for this tutorial layout to disappear.

Click “Get Photos” to begin uploading your pics.

Choose which picture you want on your pillow and “Add to Project” in the upper right hand corner.

From this page, you can edit the layout of the pillow.  Once you have it arranged how you like it, click “Review and Buy”.  Follow the prompts for checkout.

Snapfish is seriously that easy!  It’s tablet and smartphone friendly too!  So you can access your pictures any place, any time.  You can even upload from Instagram!

In all honesty, I figured the picture would be all pixelated on the pillow.  I was so surprised by how clear and the attention to detail!  You can make out Reed’s nose crinkle and his light eyebrows.

I cannot wait to give this DIY Photo Pillow to my husband for Father’s Day.  Thankfully, he doesn’t actively read the blog so this should remain secret.  I love this Father’s Day Gift Idea!

While the hubs and I were in Indianapolis last weekend, he ran down the vending machine in the hotel and came back with a grape pop.  I kinda gave him a weird look – you know the one.  He was like, “What?  I love grape soda?”  Really?  In the 10+ years we have been together, I do not think I have ever seen him drink grape pop.  As I was watching him consume the purple carbonated goodness, he looked just like Reed.  It was this whole scenario that was my inspiration for this Father’s Day Printable.

When I went to the store to get the grape pop for this post, I was thrilled that the soda was from Fitz’s!  Get it?  Fitz’s, Fritz’s?  Couldn’t have been more perfect!

Here’s how to make your own No Sew Coffee Sleeve from Dad’s Old Shirt!

Materials:

Old button down shirt

Scissors

Coffee cup

Disclaimer: Ladies, you will want to check with your husbands before cutting apart his old shirts {even if he hasn’t worn them in five years and there is dust on them}. They get a little upset when they see their shirt cut to pieces on the dining room table. Don’t say I didn’t warn you! hee hee

Step one: Find an old button down shirt. This works best with a shirt that has buttons on the cuff.

Step 2: Cut off the cuffs off the old button down shirt.

Step 3: Unbutton the wrist cuff and trim the excess material from the cuff.

Button the cuff back up and voila! Cute and trendy idea for Father’s Day!

The cuff fits perfectly on those Eco-friendly coffee cups that you can find in any store these days!

Super cute and kinda manly!

 How precious is that picture of them?  I love the joy I see in each of their eyes as they make believe.  Not to mention it was HILARIOUS to see my husband dressed up as Batman when I walked in the house.  He is one of the funnest and sweetest dads on the planet!  And Reed thinks he’s pretty awesome too.  What more could a girl ask for?

Do you have a superhero dad?  Want to pay tribute to your dad?  This printable makes a GREAT Father’s Day gift idea but it can be used any time of year – birthdays, Christmas, etc!

Simply buy a 5×7 double frame, print out your favorite picture of them together and add this poem.  I also made an 8×10 version if you just want to print and frame that!

Now you can capture those moments and add this poem to create a heartfelt Father’s Day gift!  I made it in a variety of sizes and colors.  So personalize it however you want!  Who wouldn’t love to receive this as a gift?!

Update 2016:  It has been three years since I wrote this poem.  It is one of my biggest and most successful posts.  We still have this picture hanging in our living and their love for each other is even stronger now!

Have you seen the Letter Art photos floating around the world wide web?  There are oodles of websites out there that specialize in this type of art.  However, they range in cost from $60 to $200.  Yikes!  I don’t know about you but that’s a little out of my price range. Well, this sparked my DIY/crafter mind to think “I can do that!” I just had to get a little creative.

One of my husband’s favorite things to do with the buddy is to go to the playground.  They both love being outside and being rambunctious.  Therefore, I decided it was the perfect place to garner some inspiration. I also took some photographs around the outside of our house so I had plenty from which to choose.

All you have to do is drive around your neighborhood and seek out some of your favorite places to be together as a family. The awesome part is no one’s will be exactly alike! I love that!
