Now that my breakfast nook is almost complete, I had to start dressing it up a little!  I wanted something to go with my upholstered banquette seat.  Thankfully, I had a couple of old throw pillows laying around.  I kept the inserts long after I threw out the other pillow covers.  This is such a simple sewing project.  If you can sew four straight lines, then you can make your own Easy Pillow Sham Cover too!

To create your own Easy Pillow Sham Cover, you will need:

Fabric with coordinating thread

Cutting mat, acrylic ruler and rotary cutter

Sewing machine

The fabric I used is Pom Pom Play Spa by Waverly.  Isn’t it gorgeous?!

Begin by cutting your fabric 19 inches by 44 inches.

Fold the short ends in 1/2 inch and iron.  Using a 1/4 inch seam allowance, sew the fold.  Repeat on the other end.

pillow sham2

Lay the fabric right side up.  Fold the fabric by overlapping the ends in the middle.  Arrange so the fabric is 19 inches by 19 inches.  Pin the outer edges.

pillow sham3

Sew the pinned edges.

pillow sham4

Turn fabric right side out.  It’s that easy!

Now stuff your pillow insert in and you are finished!  I whipped up 4 pillow shams in under an hour!

See how nice and clean the back looks?

Do you have an easy way to sew pillow covers?  Tell me!  I’d love to hear it!

I received free fabric for the purpose of this post.  You can read my full disclosure here.
