Mom’s Favorite Cheeseball

Welcome to our Virtual Thanksgiving dinner!
Any of you who follow this blog on a regular basis know that I am not much of a cook.  So when I was asked to join in this fun little bloggy challenge, I panicked.  I DON’T COOK!  Mom’s Favorite Cheeseball to the rescue!
Growing up, my mother made this cheeseball every Thanksgiving and Christmas.  My sister will not even make this unless it is the holidays.  The colors go well for Christmas, right?  It’s quite simple and technically, nothing is being cooked.
One bunch of green onions
One package of Carl Buddig Corned Beef
One 8 ounce package of Sharp Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Three packages of Philadelphia Cream Cheese
Lawry’s Seasoning Salt

Begin by chopping up your green onions.

And cut up your corned beef.

Place in a mixing bowl and add the shredded cheese.  Mix/toss together all three ingredients.

Next, open you cream cheese and using your palm to make a pouch.  Add Lawry’s Seasoning Salt.

Place a small amount of your onion, beef and cheese mixture on each pouch of cream cheese.

Need together each pouch until all the mixture is well distributed.
Then place all three balls of cheese on top of each other (like a little snowman).  Form into large ball of cheese.  Roll the cheeseball in the remaining mixture to make it look pretty.  Sprinkle some more season salt on the outside.  Serve with your choice of crackers.  {I prefer Sociables but that is because that is what Mom always used.}

I just love this cheeseball!  I rationalize that it is good for you since it includes all four food groups!  =)

What’s your favorite Thanksgiving recipe?

I always buy a ham & onion cheeseball from our local grocery store. I never claimed it was homemade, but it was just assumed… I’ll bring our cheeseball.

One year, the deli was out, and it was like appetizer armageddon!! So glad for the recipe, I guess it never occurred to me that it would be so simple!

That looks so tasty, Jill!! And so easy even I could make it…lol! I’m so excited about virtually having Thanksgiving with you, friend. :)

We do something really similar. Green onions, corned beef, and some Worcestershire sauce with the cream cheese … mix it all up and it’s delicious. I bet adding the cheddar would work great with that one too!
