Little kids love superheroes.  But did you know that YOU are their favorite superhero?  Of course you are!  You are their first friend, teacher, and confidante.  Words you say, memories you make, actions you take all play into their view of you and their world.  These gift ideas and printable are perfect for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day!

Instead of sharing these in multiple posts, I decided to make it one huge mega post!

I created these Supermom and Superdad vector images that can be used to create anything you want!  These are just a few of the ideas I came up with to share with you.

Idea #1: Supermom and Superdad Personalized Cups

To create these Supermom and Superdad personalized cups, you will need adhesive vinyl and a cutting machine.  Of course, I used my favorite DIY tool – my Cricut Explore.  If you are looking for tutorials on how to use adhesive vinyl, check out these DIY Wine Glasses!  Click HERE to learn how to cut and apply adhesive vinyl!

Fun idea for mom or dad to take to work or use around the house!

I couldn’t help myself.  I had to add Superman in the pictures!!

Idea #2: Supermom and Superdad T-shirts

I also used those same vector images to create Supermom and Superdad T-shirts!  For these shirts, I used iron on vinyl and my Cricut.  If you are looking for posts that teach you how to cut and use iron on vinyl, check out this St. Patrick’s Day Shirt!  Click HERE to learn all about iron on vinyl!

This shirt shows everyone that mom or dad is their superhero!

The great thing about using the Cricut is you can adapt the size of the image based on the shirt size!

Ever since Reed was a baby, Kyle has played a game with him called “Reed Pillow”.  It’s a simple game.  Basically, it consists of Kyle laying his head on Reed’s tummy, wiggling it and yelling, “Reed Pillow”!  At this point, Reed dissolves into a fit of uncontrolled giggles.  Reed is growing so big and it’s more and more difficult to pin him down for this silly, reminiscent game.  When I came across these photo pillows on Snapfish, I knew it would make a great Father’s Day gift.

 The new Snapfish website is super easy to navigate and I created this in less than 10 minutes!

If you aren’t already a member, create an account.  If you are, just sign in.

Click on the decorative pillows.

Click “Make this Project”.

This will bring up the download page.  They even quickly point out the features for ease of use.

Just click anywhere on the page for this tutorial layout to disappear.

Click “Get Photos” to begin uploading your pics.

Choose which picture you want on your pillow and “Add to Project” in the upper right hand corner.

From this page, you can edit the layout of the pillow.  Once you have it arranged how you like it, click “Review and Buy”.  Follow the prompts for checkout.

Snapfish is seriously that easy!  It’s tablet and smartphone friendly too!  So you can access your pictures any place, any time.  You can even upload from Instagram!

In all honesty, I figured the picture would be all pixelated on the pillow.  I was so surprised by how clear and the attention to detail!  You can make out Reed’s nose crinkle and his light eyebrows.

I cannot wait to give this DIY Photo Pillow to my husband for Father’s Day.  Thankfully, he doesn’t actively read the blog so this should remain secret.  I love this Father’s Day Gift Idea!

It is sooooo easy to make your own! Wanna learn how?

Here’s how to make your own No Sew Coffee Sleeve from Dad’s Old Shirt!

Materials:

Old button down shirt

Scissors

Coffee cup

Disclaimer: Ladies, you will want to check with your husbands before cutting apart his old shirts {even if he hasn’t worn them in five years and there is dust on them}. They get a little upset when they see their shirt cut to pieces on the dining room table. Don’t say I didn’t warn you! hee hee

Step one: Find an old button down shirt. This works best with a shirt that has buttons on the cuff.

Step 2: Cut off the cuffs off the old button down shirt.

Step 3: Unbutton the wrist cuff and trim the excess material from the cuff.

Button the cuff back up and voila! Cute and trendy idea for Father’s Day!

The cuff fits perfectly on those Eco-friendly coffee cups that you can find in any store these days!

Have you seen the Letter Art photos floating around the world wide web?  There are oodles of websites out there that specialize in this type of art.  However, they range in cost from $60 to $200.  Yikes!  I don’t know about you but that’s a little out of my price range. Well, this sparked my DIY/crafter mind to think “I can do that!” I just had to get a little creative.

One of my husband’s favorite things to do with the buddy is to go to the playground.  They both love being outside and being rambunctious.  Therefore, I decided it was the perfect place to garner some inspiration. I also took some photographs around the outside of our house so I had plenty from which to choose.

All you have to do is drive around your neighborhood and seek out some of your favorite places to be together as a family. The awesome part is no one’s will be exactly alike! I love that!

This Photography Letter Art is probably one of my favorite photo projects that I have ever attempted or created. I think I picked the best letter combo. What do you think?

Wanna make your own Salt Dough Hand Prints?

Here is my salt dough recipe:

• 1 cup salt
• 1 cup flour
• 1/2 cup water

Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl.  (Or if you are lazy like me, in your handy dandy kitchen aid mixer.  Be sure to use the dough hook!)

{FYI – the dough will stay fresh for a couple of days if stored in an airtight container or ziploc bag in the refrigerator!}

Once the dough is all mixed together, place on a flat surface.

Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough.

Now comes the fun part!  You can use cookie cutters or whatever handy to create whatever shape you want!

I used a Pyrex bowl to get a nice round “plaque”.

Transfer the circles to a greased cookie sheet.

I had the little guy lend a hand….literally.  Once he got over his “dirty hands” phobia, he really got into it!

I used a candy stick to make holes in the top to thread a ribbon through when it was complete.

Bake at 225 degrees for 2 hours.

{Tip: When you take them out the of the oven, tap on them.  If they sound hollow, they are dry enough}

Once they were dry and cool, I let my son go to town painting and decorating them! We had so much fun!

Can’t wait to give these to the grandpas and my husband!  They are going to love them!
