Easy Apple Fritter Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 Tablespoon melted butter
  • 2 small - medium apples

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl whisk together flour, salt, sugar and baking soda. Set aside.
  2. In a small bowl whisk together egg, milk, and melted butter. Add wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix with a wooden spoon until a dough forms. Set aside.
  3. Core, peel and finely chop the apples. Mix the apples in to the dough.
  4. Heat a large frying pan on medium high heat. When the pan is hot add 1 Tablespoon of butter.
  5. When butter is melted, drop scoops of the dough on to the pan. Spread the batter out a little bit so the fritter is a bit flat. Cook on one side for about 5 minutes. Flip over and continue to cook until the dough around the edges is cooked and the fritter is cooked through. This will take between 5-10 additional minutes - just be sure not to burn them.
  6. Serve immediately with powdered sugar, icing, or plain.
