Once again, Pottery Barn has inspired me to create something fabulous! Today I am going to share with you my Faux Mercury Glass Ornament!
Wanna see a pic of my original inspiration?
Here’s what you need to make your own!
Power drill with 1/32 drill bit
17/32 inch screw eyes
Plastic polar bear figurine
Krylon Looking Glass Spray Paint
Ribbon or twine (to hang)
Ever since the foot going through the glass stitches incident {you can read about that here}, I am not allowed to use power tools. {Or any tools for that matter..LOL} So I enlisted the help of my non-bloggin’ hubby to help me drill a hole in my polar bear. Find the bear’s center of gravity and use that as a mark of where to drill your hole.
Next, I screwed in one of the screw eyes until it was secure.
Then the bear and I took a little trip to the spray paint area in my garage. I applied five light coats of Krylon Looking Glass spray and let it dry over night.
Be sure to use a sealant after the paint has dried (otherwise it will leave marks).
Once the ornament was dry, I attached some red ribbon to hang it from the tree.
I ADORE this ornament! Personally, I think my Faux Mercury Glass Ornament looks better than the original!
