Create this homemade Sponge Ball Water Fight with some sponges from your local dollar store!
The weather is finally warming up and it’s time to spend our days outdoors. Reed was watching over my shoulder the other day as I was browsing Pinterest. We came across a pin for Sponge Bombs from Inner Child Fun and he begged me to make them. They reminded me of my Indoor Snowball Fight! (If you missed that post, click here.) We headed to Target for sponges and hair ties. Who knew this would be so much fun?!
Here’s what you need to make your own Sponge Ball Water Fight
- Sponges – (3 sponges = 1 ball)
- Hair ties
- Scissors
- Bucket with cute vinyl decal (optional)
Begin by cutting your three sponges length wise into thirds.
Mix up the sponges and stack them.
Grab the sponges around the middle and wrap the hair ties twice around the bunch. You can add extra hair ties to secure it if you are concerned about durability.
Fluff up the sponge ball and you are done! Now it’s time to fill up the bucket and dunk them in the water! Get the kids together and start your sponge ball fight!
These are so much more fun than water balloons because they don’t leave the mess! Once you are done playing, wring them out and let them dry in the sun. Store away for another fun day!
Optional: Grab a cute bucket from Michaels and create a fun decal for the outside. Works as a water reservoir and storage! Woot!
We had a blast playing with the Sponge Ball Water Fight! We even got my husband involved in the fun! I can even attest to their durability. We have used this twice and have not lost a sponge ball yet!
Are you ready to get wet? 😉
