Cupcake Liner Wreath

Last month while preparing my posts for the Pretty Paper Packages series, I was struck by a moment of pure inspiration.  I was sitting around making my Cupcake Liner Bows {click here if you missed them} and thought, “Wouldn’t these make a cute wreath?”  Ummmmm….yeah!  And thus, the Cupcake Liner Wreath was born.

Wanna make your own Cupcake Liner Wreath?

Here’s what you need:

50 Cupcake liner flowers = 250 cupcake liners

Round foam wreath form

Wooden heart embellishment (optional)

To begin making the cupcake liner flowers, I used the same tutorial I used for the bows.  You can find that here.  I made about ten a day until I made enough.  Once all the flowers were made, I cut the wire down to one inch.  Lay out your foam wreath form and begin sticking them in the foam.  I lined the inside of the wreath first and worked my way outward as you will see in the picture below.

A couple of tips that made this easier for me…

  1. Make sure all of your flowers are in the same stage of “bloom”.  I had some that were “too bloomed” and you could see right down the middle and some that looked like they had just budded.  Try to keep them similar or it will look wonky.
  2. Remove some of the flowers to adhere the heart.  Otherwise it will pull the flowers out as it pulls the whole wreath to the floor resulting in lots of tears.  {I tell you this from personal experience.}  I found that little wooden heart at Michael’s and painted it.
  3. Do not hang outside!  It is too fragile.  This is definitely an inside wreath but this was the best place to take my picture!

Doesn’t it look like real flowers?  I love it!

This definitely takes a lot of patience but I just love how feminine and Valentine-y it looks!  {Is Valentine-y a word?  LOL}

    I Love this idea– it does look like flowers. I was looking for something for our dining room decor, and I think these cupcake liner flowers would be perfect! :)

    Love it! It’s beautiful! It does look like real flowers. Now the challenge is how to get it to smell like fresh flowers.

    This is so beautiful!! My daughter is always looking for ways to make paper flowers and we have done simple ones with cupcake liners, but I love this. We are definitely going to give this a try. Thank you for sharing it!

      Thanks so much, Michelle! The flowers are actually stuck in the wreath with the wire. I only had to glue a few stubborn ones. Your wreath is darling!

    You seriously do make the best wreaths Jill. If if you ever change the color of your door, I won’t know it’s your wreath except by its pure awesomeness :-)
