These salt dough hand prints are super simple to make and guaranteed fun for everyone involved! It’s a great way for the kids to leave their mark for Father’s Day!
Wanna make your own Salt Dough Hand Prints?
Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl. (Or if you are lazy like me, in your handy dandy kitchen aid mixer. Be sure to use the dough hook!)
{FYI – the dough will stay fresh for a couple of days if stored in an airtight container or ziploc bag in the refrigerator!}
Once the dough is all mixed together, place on a flat surface.
Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough.
Now comes the fun part! You can use cookie cutters or whatever handy to create whatever shape you want!
I used a Pyrex bowl to get a nice round “plaque”.
Transfer the circles to a greased cookie sheet.
I had the little guy lend a hand….literally. Once he got over his “dirty hands” phobia, he really got into it!
I used a candy stick to make holes in the top to thread a ribbon through when it was complete.
Bake at 225 degrees for 2 hours.
{Tip: When you take them out the of the oven, tap on them. If they sound hollow, they are dry enough}
Once they were cool enough to touch, I let the little guy go to town with painting and decorating!
Reed painted his dad’s all green because that is my hub’s favorite color. And as you can see, this one shows the hand print best. I should have probably recommended that for all of them but I like the colors! =) I added some ribbon to hang them. Be sure to coat with a polyurethane sealer so they keep!

Can’t wait to give these to the grandpas and my husband! They are going to love them!
Have you made salt dough before?

Thanks!
Crayola finger paints! Worked great!
Hi There!
I have a question… do you think the dough would hold overnight in an air tight container?
Thanks!
It will hold overnight! Just be sure to refrigerate it! =)
Thank you!
No problem!
