Felt Valentine Banner

I loved this Felt Valentine Banner when I saw it on Pinterest.  OK – I SWEAR this is my last Valentine’s Day project.  =)  I just can’t help myself.  Pinterest has opened up a WHOLE new world for me!  (queue the cheesy music)  I saw this tutorial and decided to try it out since I had a lot of left over felt.  Unfortunately, the instructions were in Japanese or Chinese.  Thank goodness for good pictures!  Thankfully, I was able to re-create the Valentine Banner!

Here’s what you need:

Felt
Ruler
Cutting mat
Rotary cutter
Sewing machine
Matching thread/needle
Poms

1.  Start by measuring and cutting a piece of felt 6 inches wide by 20 inches long.

2.  Then fold long ways.
3.  Pin the open edge so it stays lined up.
4.  Then using your sewing machine, sew along the FOLDED side of the felt.
5.  Once you have finished sewing, open the fabric and fold the other direction.
6.  It should look like a heart “tube”.  Pinned the edges back together.
7.  Now you are going to sew the open edge.  Once you are finished, lay the completed heart “tube” out under your ruler.  Cut hash marks at one inch intervals.
8.  Once the whole piece is marked, begin cutting out each heart.  They will look like this.
9.  I grabbed a needle and thread and strung up white poms between each heart.
